Latest breaking news: 45 people injured in a collision between two buses
45 people have been injured in a collision between two buses in central China's Hubei Province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The accident occurred at around 7:40 am in the city of Jingmen, when a bus carrying 53 passengers collided with another bus carrying 35 passengers, according to the city's publicity department.
The injured have been taken to hospital, and 10 of them are in serious condition, the department said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The accident is the latest in a series of fatal bus accidents in China. In January, 36 people were killed and 13 others injured when a bus plunged off a bridge in southwest China's Guizhou Province. In November, 21 people were killed and 18 injured in a bus crash in central China's Hunan Province.
China has a poor record on road safety. According to the World Health Organization, China has the highest number of road traffic deaths in the world, with over 200,000 people killed each year.
